The Atmosphere

Comfortably nestled in the Goodman Arts Center, Cafe Melba is surrounded by greenery aplenty. With a beautiful sheltered alfresco area as big as (if not bigger than) the interior, visits are sure meant to feel more like a picnic than anything else, and who doesn’t love picnics!

Even though we were there for dinner, the venue doesn’t lose it’s charm after the sun goes down. As the sun faded and the lights came up, I couldn’t help but feel like I had been transported to a resort, far from the hustle and bustle of life in Singapore.

The Food

As the name suggests, Cafe Melba serves a blend of (Melb)ourne and (A)sian cuisine. Although they do offer a takeout menu, we highly recommend that you dine in for full effect.

cafe melba promos

Tuesday promotion for pizza, and daily promotion for drinks

Since it was a Tuesday, we decided to take full advantage of the free pizza that came with a $50 expenditure on drinks.

We ordered three pizzas. Namely, the Parma Ham & Rocket, Three Little Pigs and the Margherita, which came complementary, as part of their Tuesday promo.

Do request that they stagger your orders as the table can become a little cluttered. Assuming that you and your group orders all your pizzas in the biggest portion (16 inches).

cafe melba margherita pizza

the pizza with no frills– Margherita

Margherita Pizza

The Margherita was simple and traditional, sticking to the classic Margherita with Tomato sauce, Basil and Mozzarella, not over-complicating the pizza with unnecessary toppings. With just the right amount of sauce on a thin crust, this pizza is perfect for anyone who likes to keep things simple and the best part? It’s vegetarian!

cafe melba parma ham pizza

a pizza with slightly more complex flavours– Parma Ham and Rocket

Parma Ham & Rocket Pizza

The Parma Ham & Rocket was notable, with the parma ham adding a subtle sweetness to the dish. A little more complex with it’s flavours than the last, the Parma Ham & Rocket pizza has Tomato sauce, Parma Ham, Mozzarella, Rocket salad and a little Parmesan on top.

cafe melba three little pigs

the pizza for meat-lovers– Three Little Pigs

Three Little Pigs Pizza

Being a carnivore, the Three Little Pigs was definitely my personal favourite. With Tomato sauce, Home-cured Bacon, Honey Ham, Pepperoni and Mozzarella, this pizza tastes just as sinful as it sounds. With every bite, you get an orgasmic mouthful of pork, tomato sauce and cheese. Therefore, calling all fellow meat enthusiasts, this is the pizza for you.

cafe melba drinks

If you’re looking for the perfect Sunday brunch spot, or casual gourmet dining in general, Cafe Melba is for you.

The Service

Our lovely waitress, Vanessa, took great care of our table and ensured our glasses were never empty also going the extra mile to offer to help us pack some of our food to go, seeing as the 5 of us couldn’t finish the pizzas we ordered!

Special Notes

Here, you can look into the kitchen from the dining floor and observe the chefs in action. From the focused look on the chef’s faces and the attention they put into each dish before sending it out, we knew we were in for a good meal.
