Rabbit Carrot Gun

Rabbit Carrot Gun no exception to brunch options in Singapore

The Singapore brunch scene is literally exploding with a wide array of options to dine at. Rabbit Carrot Gun, is no exception to this.

I’ve eaten at enough Brunch places to conclude that brunch is a meal that lacks originality. Simply put, what you’ll find on the menu of Brunch place A is never going to differ too far from Brunch place B.

At the end of the day, how you judge the worth of your time and visit will come down to the nitty gritties – Service, Ambience and of course the taste of the food.

The Food

standard brunch fare at Rabbit Carrot Gun

Rabbit Carrot Gun serves standard Singapore brunch fare in a picturesque cafe (unfortunately they were packed and I had to sit outside in the sweltering heat). Expect to spend an average of $25 a person.

Gamekeeper’s Shooting Breakfast, $22

Singapore brunch rabbit carrot gun gamekeeper's shooting breakfast

sausage, bacon, baked beans, mushrooms, grilled tomato, 2 eggs of your choice, toast or fried bread

See how in the description the “Sausage” is singular? BECAUSE IT IS! You only get 1 Sausage so ration it well! They’re super generous with the Bacon though.

For my eggs, I went with Poached and they felt just a tad over but forgivable. Nothing really stood out here.

Koo Koo Ka Choo, $19

Sinagpore brunch koo koo ka choo for mushroom lovers

mushroom fricassee, potato hash, poached eggs, shaved gruyere, truffle vinagrette

If you like mushrooms, this will be your pick, think no further. Indulge yourself in the strong earthy flavors of mushrooms ever so slightly masked by a veil of rich egg yolk. The potato hash does the job of soaking any residue juices so you’ll have an extremely clean and empty plate at the end of the meal.

My only gripe, if you need more balance in this dish, the Gruyere and Vinagrette were not so obvious in this dance of flavors.

Sunday Roast, $16/$26

tender and tasty beef for Sunday roast

This week’s Sunday Roast was Roast Beef. I ordered the kid’s portion ($16) just for sampling purposes. BEST IDEA EVER!!!!!!! It’s not even on the menu by the way.

The beef was tender and tasty, the carrots were pleasantly sweet, served with this croissant-ish pastry which was really fluffy and great with the beef.

Just to emphasize on the roast and all its goodness, the table next to mine (obviously regulars) ordered 2 whole adult sized portions of the roast. They didn’t bother even looking at the menu.

There were so many people in Rabbit Carrot Gun that it wasn’t even funny especially with the sweltering heat. Inversely, that also means that they’re doing something right. (Psst: It’s the Roast!)
